Story: The young chief minister of Andhra Pradesh Vijay Varma(Chaitanya Krishna) decides to erect a huge statue of his father to remind people that the late CM should be viewed as someone no less than God. On the other hand a young street performer (Naina Ganguly), a poor farmer(Eeswari Rao), a young girl(Esther), and an old man Bose (Subhalekha Sudhakar) who runs an orphanage, but has no funds to even fix the roof of their house. How one man’s decision affects many other lives is what Johar is all about.

Performance: Chaitanya Krishna gets a meaty role and he is superb in the role of a cunning politician. He brings a lot of depth to the proceedings. Veteran actor Subhalekha Sudhakar does justice to their roles and fills the screen with emotional performances. Eshwari Rao delivers her fantastic performance. The mother-daughter episodes leave the viewers teary eyed. Esther Anil delivers subtle performances. Naina Ganguly, who was mostly seen in glamorous roles, gets an author backed character and she delivers her best. Rest of the cast of Johar performed accordingly.
Technical: One of the major plus points of Johar is it’s casting and this credit goes to director Teja Marni. He extracts solid performances from his cast. The story of Johar is interesting and the dialogues are quite meaningful. The movie is carrying a social message. The production design of the film is amazing. The cinematography and the BGM are good.
Analysis: Johar is an emotional drama. It is a direct attack on various governments as to how politicians in power neglect common man’s needs.
