Last month on September 21st, the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had replaced the name of NTR Health University as YSR Health University and it had created hot discussions among the leaders of the opponent party and some political leaders. Despite huge criticism, YCP did not step back and went ahead with their decision.
On the same day, the chief minister had also passed the bill regarding it and the bill was sent to the Governor of the state Biswabhushan Harichandan. Now, the bill became an act and finally the name YSR Health University has come into existence.
The Gazette notification issued by the Andhra Pradesh government said that the Governor cleared the bill and the new bill came into existence. The orders saying the same were issued in the name of Principal Secretary Krishna Babu. Though Jagan said his father proposed many schemes like 108 ambulances, Former chairman of Satyam Computers, B.Ramalinga Raju was the one who pitched the idea to have a dedicated service for ambulances.
Now the chief minister achieved what he wanted with the university name. Dr NTR University of Health Sciences was initiated in the temple city of Vijayawada by the Telugu Desam Party back in 1986. To have a dedicated establishment for the medical sciences, TDP chief Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao pitched the idea for the university.
