Our Country India reported 2.95 lakh cases of the Covid-19/ Coronavirus and 2,023 deaths in the 24 hours ending 9 am Wednesday. Coronavirus tally is now 1,56,16,130, with a death toll of 1,82,553. Currently there are 21,57,538 active Coronavirus cases in India.
On the otherside, on Tuesday night Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the second wave of Covid-19 has swept the country like a storm, and called on citizens not to lose heart in this adversity. Modi requested states to use lockdown as a last resort, and focus only on micro-containment zones.
Mr Narendra Modi told all the state governments to use lockdown as a last resort. PM Modi added, “I request the states that they should consider lockdowns as the last option. Maintaining our economic livelihoods is as important as making sure that we stay safe and healthy. It is our duty as a responsible citizen to go out as little as possible.”
On Tuesday, Telangana state imposed night curfew till 1st May while Karnataka State announced a weekend curfew and lockdown at night. A lockdown ordered by the Allahabad High Court in five cities of Uttar Pradesh was put on hold by the Supreme Court. Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray is expected to announce a complete lockdown from Wednesday evening.
