The coronavirus pandemic and the lockdown had a big effect on the film industry worldwide. Now the Telugu film industry is getting back to shooting slowly. Today, the MAA- Movie Artiste’s Association and the Active Telugu Film Producers’ Guild announced that Telugu actors and technicians will take a 20 percent pay cut in their remunerations compared to their pre-lockdown remunerations.
The Movie Artistes Association, Telugu producers guild have agreed that a 20 percent reduction on remuneration for artists who charge more than Rs 20,000 a day and technicians who charge more than Rs 5 lakh a film, based on pre-lockdown rates.
Now according to the latest update, the only artists who earn more than Rs 20,000 per day will undergo this pay cut. The technicians who earn more than Rs 5 lakhs per movie will also see their salaries being reduced by 20 percent.
Recently few top actors and directors volunteered came forward and announced to reduce their salaries. Several South Indian actors including Vijay Antony and Harish Kalyan announced that they are ready to take a pay cut for the welfare of the producers during this tough times. It is known news that in Tamil film Industry, recently ‘Cobra’ director Ajay Gnanamuthu also reduced his salary for the movie 40%, which reportedly amounts to about Rs 1.25 Cr.
