Madras High Court ordered a notice to Abhimanyudu actor Vishal and director Anandan to respond before Thursday in connection to a plea, which is filed by Trident Arts to restrain the release of Chakra on OTT platforms. Justice N Sathish Kumar decided to hear Vishal and director Anandan before passing the interim order. Trident arts filed applications and alleged that a loss of Rs 8 Cr due to the poor performance of the action drama Action.
Trident Arts is claiming that the original distribution amount for the movie Chakra starring Vishal was Rs 44 Cr and appealed to the court to restrain the release of this film until the firm is sufficiently compensated for losses by Vishal.
The counsel for the petitioner, Vijayan Subramanian said that an agreement was signed with Anandan dated 29th August, 2018. The producer said that it was decided that Vishal will lead the film as a military officer and on the same day a token advance of Rs 1 lakh was given to the director through cheque.
Claiming that Vishal’ film ‘Chakra’ has been slated to be arrived in the OTT platform for consideration of Rs 44 Cr, petitioner Vijayan Subramanian claimed that unless the release of action drama Chakra is stalled, his rights under the agreement will be affected.
He also said that the court must direct the director Anandan and actor Vishal to deposit Rs 1 Cr as a deposit with it as a condition to release the film pending disposal of the plea.
