Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui of Gangs of Wasseypur fame said the movement calling out s*xual abuse, casting couch in Hindi film Industry was a publicity stunt by those who couldn’t get work in the industry.
#MeToo movement has already created a sensation in the entertainment industry. #MeToo also shook up Bollywood, but most members of the film fraternity maintained a stony silence, whereas few came forward and revealed their harassment story. Nawazuddin Siddiqui, one of the popular actors of Bollywood, who carved a space for himself in a nepotistic industry filled with star kids, is now among those who ridiculed the movement.
Recently during the media interaction, Nawazuddin Siddiqui said, “Every person in this film industry thinks that they are talented. This film industry is making a nontalented person into a star. There needs to be something extraordinary in the people. But If there is no work, people will abuse the film industry and the People who have no work, bring out all sorts of movements.”
Nawazuddin Siddiqui denied the existence of casting couches in Bollywood, and said he had never experienced anything in this Hindi Film Industry. I am feeling that it is all just a plot to defame the “safest place” — Bollywood.
