20 Indian Soldiers including Commanding Officer were martyred at Galwan Valley of Eastern Ladakh during a violent clash with Chinese troops on Monday night.
On Tuesday, the Indian Army said that 20 of its soldiers were killed in violent clashes with Chinese troops during a face-off in the Galwan Valley in eastern Ladakh on Monday night. The army said that almost the same number of Chinese troops have been killed during the clashes in the Galwan Valley.
Indian and Chinese troops have disengaged at Galwan area where they had earlier clashed on 15/16 June 2020 night. 17 Indian troops who were injured in the line of duty at the stand-off location and exposed to sub-zero temperatures in the high altitude terrain have succumbed to their injuries, taking the total that were killed in this action to 20. Indian Army is committed to protect the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the nation.
The Defence Minister Rajnath Singh held two review meetings over developments in eastern Ladakh. A meeting was held at his residence, which was attended by External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat and Army Chief General MM Naravane.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar also met India’ Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the Indian Army’ standoff with Chinese troops in Ladakh’ Galwan Valley saw violent escalation.
