Former agriculture minister of erstwhile Andhra Pradesh state YS Vivekananda Reddy has passed away. According to the latest update, he suffered a sudden heart stroke at his residence in Pulivendula and breathed his last on the wee hours of Friday.
YS Vivekananda Reddy is the younger brother of the former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh YS Rajasekhara Reddy and YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s Babai. He was born on 8th August 1950.
He was the designer of Lingala Canal in Kadapa district. He started his services to the community through the Lions club, became District Governor and the Samithi President.
YS Vivekananda Reddy got elected as MLA, MLC and MP during his political tenure. He was twice elected as a Member of the Legislative Assembly for the Pulivendula constituency, in 1989 and 1994. Then, in the elections of 1999, Reddy was elected to the Lok Sabha from the Kadapa constituency with a majority of over 90,000, which was the highest majority gained in state. In 2004 elections Vivekananda Reddy increased that majority to over 110,000. In the years 1989 and 1994, represented Pulivendula constituency in undivided Andhra Pradesh assembly and in the years 1999 and 2004, he worked as MP from Kadapa.
In Kiran Kumar Reddy’s government, YS Vivekananda Reddy was the agriculture minister and later he resigned to Congress party and joined YSR Congress. The last rites are expected to be held in Idupulapaya.
