Amala Akkineni, the wife of Akkineni Nagarjun and mother-in-law of Samantha Akkineni made her comeback in Tollywood with the movie Life is Beautiful, which was directed by Sekhar Kammula. Post the release of the movie, she acted in few movies but did not play full-length roles. Now according to the latest update, Amala Akkineni is going to be a part of a web original series which is expected to be streamed on popular OTT platform Zee5. The web series, directed by Pushpa Ignatius, will be released in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Marathi and Kannada languages.
Amala Akkineni was last seen in Dulquer Salmaan’s Bollywood debut Karwaan.
The web series is tentatively titled as High Priestess and Amala Akkineni will be seen playing key role. The complete details on the same will be out soon. The series will also have Tamil actress Sunainaa.
Sunainaa, who recently wrapped up Halitha Shameem’s Sillu Karupetti, is also the part of an original web-series for Amazon, which has been launched recently.
During the media interaction, Sunainaa talked about this web series. She said, “Amala Akkineni ma’am is there throughout and this is a never-seen-before avatar of her. In fact, there is a huge star cast comprising several Tamil actors, of which I am just one.”
Sunainaa said that her character would be ‘bold and intense’. She added, “Since this is a web-series, it will be definitely intense without anything being toned down. It is an emotional character. In fact, I told Pushpa Ignatius I wanted to be part of the project and kind of forced my way in.”
Amala Akkineni and Sunainaa’s web series will go on floors in December.
Amala Akkineni is Bharata Natyam dancer, and an animal welfare activist and she has acted in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Bollywood film.
Amala Akkineni has won two Filmfare Awards South One for Malayalam ( Filmfare Award for Best Actress – Malayalam – Ulladakkam) and One for Telugu ( Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress – Telugu – Life Is Beautiful).
